This month, we’re heading to sunny Pasadena, California, to spotlight Be Pilates—a studio where community comes first. Founder Ida shares how Be Pilates grew from a single room to a thriving two-space studio, her go-to props for every class, and a few wellness rituals she swears by. (Plus, she’s got a great local tip for post-class relaxation—you’ll want to add this to your list.)

Tell us about Be Pilates:
Be Pilates is a boutique Reformer studio located in sunny Pasadena, California. We offer dynamic group classes and recently expanded with a second studio space right next door—proof that our community is growing and thriving.
What’s special about Be Pilates?
Community is at the heart of everything we do. Our staff feels more like family, and it’s amazing to see how many friendships have formed within our walls. We hear it all the time: Be Pilates feels especially warm, welcoming, and full of heart—and that’s the biggest compliment we could ever receive.
How long have you been in the Pilates world?
I’ve been teaching since 2006, and Be Pilates has been open since May 2018. We’re about to celebrate our 7th birthday, and it’s been such a rewarding ride!

Your biggest business lesson?
Relationships are everything. When you nurture your team and your clients, you build a foundation strong enough to weather anything—and that’s what keeps us going.
Fave Loops product and why?
The Pilates Ball, hands down! It’s so versatile—I use it for everything from core work to stability and spinal mobility exercises. It’s a staple in our classes for a reason.
Favorite part of your day?
My morning coffee ritual. It’s a small window of time I carve out just for myself—to ground, reset, and get ready to show up as my best self for the studio (and for my toddler!).

What are you reading or watching right now?
I’m currently waiting for Season 2 of Nobody Wants This. Life can be so serious, so I gravitate toward comedy and anything feel-good. Also: Emily in Paris—but mostly for the fashion inspo.
Something you're loving right now?
I’ve recently started taking black seed oil daily, and it’s been a total game-changer for my immune system. I also love sipping chamomile tea before teaching—it keeps my voice strong for long days in the studio. Running a business and chasing after a toddler means health has to be a top priority!

What’s a must-do in Pasadena?
If you visit us for a class, you have to check out Scalp Sanctuary, located right next door. It’s the most beautiful head spa—you start with tea in their meditation room before heading into a dreamy scalp treatment. Pure bliss.
