Studio Spotlight: NRG Pilates
This month, we’re heading Down Under to spotlight NRG Pilates, a boutique studio based in Canberra, where thoughtful design meets feel-good movement. With a second location just announced and a community-first approach to classes, founder Ally shares what makes NRG so special, how she stays grounded, and the Loops prop that’s earned itself a name (shoutout to Betty).

What’s special about NRG?
Our studio is super unique because it’s truly boutique. We value quality over quantity, and every detail in the space has been hand-chosen and has meaning behind it. Our instructors really care about you, and every session is taught with intention behind the movement.

How long have you been in the Pilates world?
I’ve been teaching Pilates for 8 years and have owned my studio for 1 year now.

Your biggest business lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt early on is to always listen to your gut and heart when making decisions. Advice is amazing, but at the end of the day, you know what’s best for your studio. Every decision should align with the vision you have—just go for it!

Fave Loops product and why?
Ohhh I absolutely love the 8” Pilates Ball—she’s so aesthetic and cute. Also, the Dune Resistance Band! We’ve named her Betty, and I love Betty!

Favourite part of your day?
Getting to post online about our studio and our incredible members. It lights me up.

Your greatest joy?
Oh gosh, this is hard to choose just one! My greatest joy is seeing and hearing how much we’re helping people—how good we’re making them feel. Watching someone progress in strength and flexibility, and then seeing them notice it... ahh! The best. My members are everything.

What are you reading or watching right now?
I’m watching Severance at the moment. It took me until season two to get hooked—I skipped a few episodes of season one, oops!

Something you’re loving right now?
I’m loving my skincare prep—morning and evening. I’m usually a rusher, so taking that time has really helped me slow down and ease into the day (or wind down at night). Also, I need the extra help with these under-eye bags, so it’s a must at the moment!

What’s a must-do in Canberra?
Canberra is the capital of Australia—there’s not a lot here, but the food scene is popping! Go out for dinner, take a walk around the lake, and go for a hike up Mount Ainslie. It’s all worth it.

Any exciting updates?
Yes! We’ve just announced that we’re expanding and opening a second location. It’ll have a completely new offering alongside our much-loved boutique Reformer classes. We’re so excited for this next chapter for NRG.
