Nestled in the Cambridgeshire countryside, Reformer At The Barn is as dreamy as it sounds. For founder Ellie, what started as a personal love of Pilates turned into a vision for something bigger, a boutique studio where interiors meet movement, and where every session feels like a sanctuary away from daily life. With group reformer classes, private training, and a community that feels more like family, Ellie has created a space that’s as inspiring as it is beautiful.

Tell us about your studio
Reformer At The Barn is a boutique Pilates studio tucked away in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside, in the village of Abbotsley near St Neots. My love of Pilates (and interiors) inspired me to design a welcoming, luxury space that feels like a sanctuary away from daily life.
We’re a contemporary Pilates studio, our group classes are rooted in Joseph Pilates’ original method, but with creative variations and dynamic flows to keep things fun and challenging. We also offer a private studio for one-to-one and duet sessions, ideal for those recovering from injury or looking for tailored support.
How long have you owned a studio?
I first discovered Reformer Pilates in 2018 while working in the high-pressure world of corporate law in London. I was instantly hooked and soon found myself taking up to five classes a week just to stay balanced. When I moved out of London and couldn’t find anywhere to practise, I decided to qualify as an instructor and began teaching private sessions. In 2024, I finally brought my dream to life and opened the studio I had always wanted.

Biggest lesson
When you own a business, you have to trust your vision and not get too caught up in what everyone else is doing.
Greatest joy
Without a doubt, seeing and hearing how much we’re helping people, whether that’s with strength, mobility, confidence, or simply giving them an hour of calm. Watching our community grow and feeling the support of such a loyal, kind client base is incredibly rewarding.
Favourite Loops product & why?
It has to be the Mint green Premium Loops. They’re perfectly on-brand for us, super padded, and so much more comfortable than others we’ve tried.

Favourite part of your day
Any time I get to jump on the reformer myself. Even after years of practise, I still find it just as challenging and rewarding, if not more so.
What are you currently reading and watching?
I’ve been watching Rivals and it’s absolutely hilarious. I loved reading all the Jilly Cooper books growing up, so seeing it brought to life on screen has been such a treat.
Something you’ve been loving lately that we all need to know about
I only recently discovered matcha (England is very behind America!) and I’m now completely addicted. I make a latte every morning with a pinch of salt and cinnamon, and it’s honestly my favourite ritual to start the day.

What makes your studio stand out?
I might be biased, but I think it’s the prettiest Pilates studio you’ll find. Our team are not only brilliant teachers, they’re also genuinely warm and welcoming, which is why so many clients love coming back. The feedback we hear again and again is that classes are enjoyable, challenging, and always different. You’ll be pushed in the best way, with plenty of support (and yes, your instructor will probably know your dog’s name too).
If we come visit your studio, what is the other must-do in the area?
Waresley Park Estate! It’s a gorgeous spot just 10 minutes from the studio with beautiful lodges, wild swimming, a coffee shop and a spa. It’s my go-to escape when I need a reset.
